SheBangg was formed in early 2004, with various line up changes until it exists as it does today. Founder members Chrissii Wing and Tim Barratt, with drummer Leyton Burgess, were joined by Graham Clews in 2006, who had previously made guest appearances with the band. Pulling together established local musicians, the band have a wide variety of playing and recording experience. Chrissii Wing is becoming well known for her powerful renditions of various SheBangg original songs, complimented with occasional new versions of songs by artists such as Alanis Morissette, Janis Joplin, The Cranberries and Skunk Anansie. Dubbed "The Voice" by one reviewer, her sound is strong and individual. The SheBangg sound ranges from bluesy acoustic numbers, emotional ballads through to loud, raunchy, melodic rock and power pop songs. Self-penned songs are in a similar style, with funk and even reggae influences. On occasion, SheBangg also play as "SheBangg Unplugged" with vocals, acoustic guitar, bass, and percussion. This set is particuarly suited to smaller venues, where the full electric set, of largely original material, is not suited. The unplugged set features many original songs plus unique reworkings of classic songs. SheBangg have played in various venues around the Midlands ranging from small intimate audiences to large music venues, Festival's and Theatre's. They have quite a big following in the West Midlands and are gradually gaining more of a following outside their local area. SheBangg are now looking to branch out into different area's in the UK.
