The band have an ever-growing fan base in and around their hometown of Hastings, and in June went through to the southern England final of an international battle-of-the-bands run by Emergenza – Columbia Germany’s official talent scout.
Critics describe the band as sounding like “an explosive and melodic blend of Trust Company, Blindside and Tool”, showing why the music of UNDERTOW offers energetic moshable riffs while maintaining soaring harmonies.
In mid 2003 UNDERTOW were at the centre of a six-week furore in the national music press, which included news features and interviews. This exposure has placed the name of UNDERTOW into the minds of thousands of music fans across the country.
In August 2002 UNDERTOW released their six-track EP State Of Disease which has since sold out of all stocks, including those being sold by the local Virgin Megastores branch. The band are now looking to record a new EP in the coming months.
UNDERTOW are always looking to reach new audiences, having secured a string of gigs in London including the Camden Barfly and Leicester Square’s Sound. On stage UNDERTOW are a sight to behold, complete with custom instruments baring lighting effects. Journalists have described the band’s live performances as “brutal”.
