The album cover [ Cold Skin ] says it all - “a solitary figure in a dark place”.
That is the Pretty Fragile.
The solitary figure is writer Paul Abrey and the dark place, the debut album Cold Skin.
Influenced by the likes of Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson and even the Smashing Pumpkins, Cold Skin sits neatly between Industrial and Alternative Metal - if somewhat restlessly!
Heavily centred by electronic instruments, the ten tracks which make up Cold Skin, awaken the listener to a wide and contoured musical terrain - at times so aggressive and threatening that it pushes all who might dare, into darkened corners with ears bleeding. Cold Skin is also occasionally, soft and disarming - showing the chinks in the armour.
The Pretty Fragile started as a solo project and through 2012 the debut album Cold Skin was recorded. Cold Skin was released January 31 2013 worldwide as a digital album. The first single Feel Box, including a remix of I Want To Cut It Out, was released April 22 2013. The album and the single have been well received on local (including BBC) and national radio and some European stations.
Having now got some musicians together The Pretty Fragile are in rehearsals to take the album live. The live shows will kick off with a live set on BBC Introducing Devon.
