In a world of mediocre melodies and less-than-inspired lyrics, the alternative pop genre has more than enough room for cleverly crafted double-entendres and grin-inducing wit. White Valentine are trying to make a break through The germination of White Valentine began with lead singer Richard White and guitarist Danny Flanagan in the Doncaster suburb of Norton where the two grew up. Although acquainted as children, the real connection took place in 2008 when both met up in a matter of pure chanceas Danny was dating Richards sister at the time. Playing small gigs around town, the duo caught the ears of many locals who continue to grow in numbers. The Duo recorded a three-song, self-titled CD that eventually made more people interested in the band. A gig at the local football teams ground (Doncaster Rovers), which set the tone for the Duo's tongue-in-cheek humor, youthful pop-culture lyrics and chilled out tempos. In Febuary of 2010, the band decided that to give there songs a harder and indier edge that a drummer and bassist was needed. After a long drawn out audition session , Jordan Chester and Kerris Prendergast were named as Bassist and Drummer.
