Blue Gum Ears are a 3-piece band based in the North East of Scotland comprising of:
"Gordy" Gordon Strathdee, Lead Vocals and Rhythm Guitar "A.J." Alan Jamieson, Bass "Jock" Russell Kennedy, Drums
The band was formed through a series of jam sessions. Initially influenced by Nirvana and Green Day, they have been gigging solidly around the North of Scotland, developing as a group and building up an impressive following.
With their reputation rapidly rising during 2000 they recorded their self titled 12 track CD. On the live front they supported Reef, Republica and Tailgunner with some acoustic jamming with Paddy Casey, Mundy and Damien Dempsey thrown in for good measure.
However, 2001 has been the highlight with their excellent 5 track CD “VOiD” gaining them valuable openings and recognition. First came radio play and success in the Hard Rock Café competition. However, in August they opened the Budweiser True Music Stage at Glasgow’s Gig on the Green featuring Mull Historical Society, Amen, Turin Breaks, BS2000 & Idlewild. This was a massive boost on a major stage with the band receiving an amazing reception to their electric 20-minute set.
Writing and performing their own songs has been a major priority and they now have a considerable and varied catalogue. Along the way they have self financed 2 CDs which has mirrored their progression both in performance and songs. These along with T-shirts can be purchased on-line at http://www.bluegumears.com
