The Revolutionary Paint Machine (RPM) is a smart two-piece band comprising Keith (bass/machines/backing vox) and Simon (guitar/witty banter/vocals) and the massed skills of Robo-Ringo (mech-drummer) and the Random Access Brass Section (the best non-member backing group in the world). We do add to our number from time to time depending on the size and nature of bookings.
We started out a long time ago doing very culty covers (movie/tv themes etc) but shifted towards being a slightly more traditional covers band as gigs increased.
A typical set-list consists of around 3 - 4 hours material covering everything from ELO's Mr Blue Sky to The Beatles' I'll Cry Instead & Lady Madonna, Baker Street to Man of Mystery and Witchita Lineman to Ziggy Stardust. We will and do cover everything (hence the name of the band) and we've been told we sound amazing for a two-piece. We reckon that if you put £10 into a good jukebox and hit random numbers, that's the kind of surprising, vibrant set you get with us.
Ours is very definitely a 'big sound' and we aim to cover songs with a good degree of authenticity; if we are doing Strawberry Fields Forever, what you hear is our very best approximation of the style and sound of the original without wandering into tribute band territory.
We have our own good quality sound equipment (PA, microphones, etc) and are more or less self-contained.
2005 - 6 have been particularly busy with 1 or 2 gigs a month (hey, that's busy for us as we've got jobs to do and guitars to polish!) in and around Somerset, plus regular London bookings.
This year we've been organising some new venues (dates are now being added to our gig list on this site so check 'em out) and working on a longer, even more diverse set.
We are as happy and committed playing at a small bar or local pub as we are at a larger venue or wedding. We can also plan a set-list to suit tastes and venues, so if you want to book a good, versatile little band who do exactly what they claim, then get in touch with us.
Be seeing you! The Revolutionary Paint Machine
