“Benny - singer/songwriter of Bristol based band treacle eater, decided in the winter of 2004 to strip down his sound into straight acoustic songs. The results are found on his new self titled cd recorded on his own in January 2005.
Having first tested the waters with various open mic nights around Bristol including The Folk house and The Bunch of Grapes, where he successfully showcased his talent during his first solo acoustic gig as part of Acoustic Alfie’s Sunday Sessions. Benny has been steadily growing as an artist and a performer relying on the emotional impact of his songs to silence rooms across the city.
The 3 songs on the Cd (Vicky I don’t think you should be alone, Halloween masks & Monte Carlo) are just a small selection of the many songs that Benny has been writing over the last few months. These delicate songs of lost love and bitter cities do not musically reflect his influences, but carry a resonance of them. Digesting a varied diet of bay area thrash metal, George Michael, iron maiden, American music club and the red house painters from an early age has helped to centre Benny on making heartfelt emotional music that can connect with people on many levels.” - Jade Teller (Last Hope Fanzine) 2005
